Setting Science Based Targets for climate

APRIL have committed to set a science-based target through the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). By joining this initiative, APRIL will ensure that its low-carbon transformation is aligned with climate science. This will help prevent dangerous climate change. It will also give our business competitive advantage in the transition to the low-carbon economy. Through this commitment to set a science based target is but one of the initiatives APRIL is taking to demonstrate on how we are increasingly leading the way on tackling climate change.

Installing 20 MW Solar Panel by 2025

As part of the commitment to reduce its carbon emissions and kick off the company’s shift to renewable energy sources, APRIL will be installing 20MW solar panels at its operational site starting with 1MW in 2021.

Signatory to Business for Nature’s Call to Action

Business for Nature is a global coalition bringing together influential organizations and forward thinking businesses. Healthy societies, resilient economies and thriving businesses such as APRIL rely on nature, and these natural resources and ecosystems if not managed responsibly could be under huge strain. As part of our efforts to champion conservation under our “Thriving Landscapes” commitment, we’ve recently joined more than 560 companies around the world and signed up to Business for Nature Coalition’s Call to Action to urge for collective action and ambitious nature policies.

Member of 1t.org Corporate Alliance

APRIL has joined 1t.org as a member of 1t.org’s Corporate Alliance to be part of a global movement to conserve, restore and grow 1 trillion trees by 2030. 1t.org is a multi-stakeholder platform to connect, empower and serve the forest restoration community. It is part of the World Economic Forum’s Platform to Accelerate Nature-Based Solutions.

Member of Science based Targets Network (SBTN) for Nature’s Corporate Engagement Program

APRIL accepted membership of the Science Based Targets Network (SBTN) Corporate Engagement Program as part of our commitment to help protecting and restoring nature. We were invited to join and are one of the first forest product organizations globally to have signed up to this Program. Companies need Science Based Targets for Nature which can be used to start guiding their action for consistent and collective impact.

Tropical Peatland Science Hub

A new tropical peatland science hub has been established at the RER Eco-Research Camp on Riau’s Kampar Peninsula that will serve as a hub for national and international scientists and academics and for stakeholders who wish to experience ecosystem restoration work on the ground.

Supporting Wildlife Protection from Illegal Trade

APRIL is in advanced discussion on a cooperation with Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) on wildlife protection and conservation in Indonesia, including of endangered species, in support of the Indonesian Government’s biodiversity goal. This is in addition to the ongoing collaboration with long-time partner Fauna & Flora International on the Riau Ecosystem Restoration (RER) initiative.
